How did Patrick Reed get his nickname?

Patrick Reed has been involved in various controversies in his career on the PGA Tour. But ever since he joined LIV Golf, he hasn’t been in a lot of interviews. However, he was recently in conversation with Dennis Silvers on the 19 hole podcast. When asked who gave him the name in the first place, Reed said, “That was the fans back at Ryder Cup”

He further added, “We were out there playing, we needed a push and it was one of those moments… I was playing as hard as I could for my teammates, for my country.”

That was when his fans started chanting Captain America referring to the golfer and his performance. “The name is stuck…It’s been amazing to be known as Captain America,” Reed said. He also mentioned how due to his consistent international tournaments, fans all over the world know him by the same nickname. And having such a cool nickname among golf fanatics, Reed simply likes to “embrace” it.

What led Reed to make a career out of golf?

During the conversation, Reed was asked about how he decided to step into the field of professional golf. “Ever since I was little… I had a set of clubs in my hand,” he said. “We lived on a golf course down in San Antonio.”

Reed further explained how he used to practice golf every day as soon as he stepped out of his house. He also mentioned how he not only enjoyed the game but also had a lot of fun on the field. According to him, the members of the club were very welcoming towards him and the other kids. And that was something that helped him to actually enjoy playing and learning about the sport.
