Charley Hull still walks like a breeze. Chevron Championship, the first major of the season, lasted only two days for the 29-year-old. The British phenom missed the cut–a horrible outing at a terribly tough course that saw Hull card 4-over after 36 holes. The first round of the Black Desert Championship didn’t start well, either. A modest 2-under after Thursday has kept Hull stuck in T42.

She was disappointed after missing the cut at the Chevron Championship. And she would love to win. But golf for her means more than winning. It’s not about money; it’s not about fame. It’s just the pure joy of playing golf. The peace of hitting a perfect fade. Something that Hull finds more while teeing off with friends at home rather than on Tour.

Speaking to Mel Reid at the Black Desert Championship, the 29-year-old golfer admitted, “I prefer playing golf with my friends at home than I do on Tour. Like that’s generally what I do, because I love golf for the golf… Not just for making money and stuff.”

In just four months, Hull is closer than where many predicted she would be after a year. The British golfer told Mel Reid while walking the course, “It’s 23:30 that I did last weekend. But I reckon I got about 21 in me at the minute…. So to all those people out there who said it’s impossible to get it down that quickly, well, there you go.”

Charley Hull abhors golf training; her focus is squarely on weight training and running. Fans have questioned her choice before. Somehow blaming her overtly conscious fitness regimen for impacting her game. Hull has previously clarified thus:
