It appears that the Kroger Queen City Championship was more than stories of comebacks and LPGA milestones. In a conversation on the Quiet Please podcast with Mel Reid and Kira Dixon, they reveal one such quirky incident that followed the showdown at TPC River’s Bend. Close friends with the winner, Charley Hull, Reid’s exchange went all over the place, veering off to chats about romantic partners. That’s when Hull teased about the ex-golfer’s “dirty secrets.”

Reid and Dixon were mid-conversation about Hull’s victory. That’s when Reid shared the story about her recent catch-up with Hull on the podcast. They went over Hull’s ankle injury. Reid revealed that Hull suffered a grade three tear that was supposed to keep her from the greens for 9 weeks. However, Hull showcased her undying love for golf, returning to the course in just 3 weeks. Despite the pain, Hull not only grabbed the trophy but also managed to maintain a positive attitude. That may have come at the cost of teasing her friend, Mel Reid, though.

When Reid asked Hull to make an appearance on the podcast, Hull chimed in, in a teasing tone, that she would share some of Reid’s dirty secrets. Yes, that took Reid by as much surprise as it took us. “I was like, I don’t really have any dirty secrets,” Reid nudged. Well, Hull wasn’t one to back down either, firing back. “She was like, ‘Um, oh, I bet people don’t know that you’ve stayed with more men than I have,'” Reid shared. Taken off guard by the remark about her romantic partners, Reid couldn’t help but protest. “And I was like, ‘No, I haven’t.’ And she was like, ‘Yeah, you have.'”

Not that Reid was having any of it, turning her friend’s attempt at playfully poking fun at her futile. “I’m like, ‘So anyway, she’s probably going to talk about things like that on the pod, which are completely untrue,'” Reid added in her own attacks on her friend. This exchange brings forward the cheeky side of Hull. Not only does she sweep the fields with her fierce shots, but she also wins the hearts of her fans with her easygoing personality. Hull loves to stir the pot with some tongue-in-cheek remarks every once in a while. And who better to annoy than her close friends, Reid and Dixon?

However, this exchange hinted at a bigger fact about her mental state entering the championship. Even after being away from the course for around a month while battling an agonizing ligament tear, Hull stayed upbeat. “She was in great spirits. She was hitting the ball great. Um, look, she ended up winning,” Reid had also confirmed. That reflects her poise, strength, and easy-going nature, a fierce combo Hull keeps flaunting on the LPGA and LET circuits.

But this is not a standalone incident where Hull paraded her quick wit. Known for her playful digs and sass, the 3-time LPGA champ has always kept the fans enthralled with her humor.

Charley Hull’s playful banter on and off the fairways

Often finding herself in the social media spotlights, one particular event that caused a stir among the fans came at the US Women’s Open. While Charley Hull strode the fairways with a cigarette in her hand, one fan likened it to John Daly. Slipping off a snide comment, the fan cheeked: “Come on Charley, rip that thing.” While keeping it lighthearted, Hull understood her responsibility in avoiding promoting smoking. She quipped, “Hope you’re talking about my driver,” underscoring her self-aware personality. Hull admitted later that she hates smoking, and the LPGA pro quit that habit in early 2025.

Another funny incident came at the same event when she revealed that one spectator tried hitting on her. Needless to say, the attempts were in vain, with Hull enjoying her sweet relationship with her supportive boyfriend. Besides the witty comebacks on the fairways, Hull carries the humor to her social media, too.

In a typo error, Hull accidentally mixed up ‘can’t’ and ‘can’, posting “genuinely can wait” in her Instagram story. Well, that caused a lot of fans to playfully come at her ability to spell. Keeping it classy, Hull later joked in a self-deprecating remark on her story: “Yes guys I can’t spell I never went school left when I was 12 but you all know what I meant.”

There’s no doubt these incidents are comical gold. From playfully teasing her friends to making responsible yet sassy comments, Charley Hull never fails to impress, whether that’s with the driver or with her humorous personality.
