The 2025 schedule brought less popular names of professional golfers into the limelight. While for some, fans have criticized watching them for long hours of play. It came to light when Paige Spiranac replied to a fan, quoting Samuel Stevens and Andrew Novak on X. Irrespective of that, others have surprised the golf world with their performance at a young age. Blades Brown, the recently turned-pro golfer featured at the American Express event to tee off his first in 2025 schedule.

Of the 156 players participating, he could make the cut through in three rounds but unfortunately could get close to the victory. He scored 2 over par in round three, resulting in a 6 under par score. Even though, with just two appearances as a professional, the golfer has set the hopes high for the viewers.

However, for him, the real motivation came from other professionals. During the Golf Subpar’s recent podcast, the American professional was invited as a guest for an in-depth discussion about his career. During the video, Drew Stolz asked, “Was there anyone like you were looking forward to meet that you got the chance to or anyone that just kind of was overly cool to you that surprised you?”

Brown, answering and sharing his memory, said, “It really means a lot whenever people come up to you like that.” Continuing further, he gave examples of Tiger Woods, and Justin Thomas, and how it impacted his performance. He said, “For example, Tiger Woods, like dude, when I got to meet Tiger [Woods] that was so sick.”

Not only this, he developed further, saying, “But it really meant a lot to me when Justin Thomas came up to me and he was like, ‘Hey man, like I’m rooting for you this week. Let’s go. Go make some birdies.’” The words for the 2X major winner pushed Brown into the round ahead, as he shared that this meetup happened just before the second round.

Even though the 17-year-old requires guidance on his new journey with the PGA Tour, that hasn’t been the case with his amateur career.

Blades Brown’s amateur career

The American golfer from Nashville has many records, including the U.S. Amateur record for the youngest medalist in 2023. He broke Bobby Jones’s 103-year-old record. Not only this, he also won three consecutive division II-AAA TSSAA state championships. In 2024, he became the third player to win the U.S. Junior and U.S. Amateur. Even he won three AJGA titles and was awarded the AJGA Player of the Year.

Till now, Brown has participated in two events of the PGA Tour. First was the Myrtle Beach Classic as an amateur and the second and the most recent one is the American Express. His best finish is still his first appearance, which is T26th, while not to forget his last event where he made the cut till the third round in the full-field event of 156 players.
