With a larger field than in previous years, the tournament was set to be a thrilling competition. However, as the rounds progressed, it became clear that not all the big names would make it through to the weekend. World No. 1 Lydia Ko and American star Lexi Thompson were among those who missed the cut, leaving fans and followers alike in shock.

The American star had been struggling with a painful wrist injury. Yet, she put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell short of the cut line. The disappointment was evident in her voice as she thanked sponsors, volunteers, and fans for their unwavering support. Thompson, who had missed the cut in both events she had played this season, had been experiencing pain in her right wrist from excessive grinding on the practice range at home. Despite the injury, she had managed to shoot a 72 in the second round at the Jack Nicklaus Course, taking 31 putts along the way. However, it was not enough to secure her a spot in the weekend rounds.
