Three-time Major Champion Scottie Scheffler. Sure does have a nice ring to it. The World No.1 maintained a stunning level of consistency to ease into a five-stroke victory at the 2025 PGA Championship to register his first major outside of the Masters. It was also his second straight PGA Tour title, having won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at Texas just two weeks before the major. But Scheffler is still firmly rooted.

For Scheffler, the victory at Quail Hollow, or even the ones before, was never about himself. It was about his team, which includes his caddie, coaches, and family “Teddy did a good job of keeping me in it, and Randy helped me figure out things on my swing. Morris helped get my body right. It was a real team effort this week. I’m proud of the whole squad. Looking forward to celebrating this one.” Scheffler explained after the tough victory at Charlotte. And that has been his sentiment since the beginning of his golfing career. Even before he won his first major.

Rolex released an exclusive with the three-time Major winner where he recalled his state of mind ahead of the 2022 Masters, which would eventually be his first Major win. At that time, Scheffler was the World No.1 and had clinched three titles on the PGA Tour that year alone. “It seemed like all they could talk about was me. I think it kinda dawned on me: holy smokes, this is a big deal. I was a bit overwhelmed. I remember crying a lot.” Scheffler recalled the situation during the Masters. A source of calm in those chaotic moments? His wife, Meredith Scudder.

One of the stabilizing forces for the World No.1 during these turbulent moments was his wife, Meredith Scudder. The duo met each other while at Highland Park School and began dating in January 2014. Despite attending rival universities(he at the University of Texas and she at the Texas A&M University), the couple’s relationship blossomed eventually culminating in a marriage in 2020. They welcomed their first child in May 2024, naming him Bennett.

Meredith Scheffler has been a huge source of support for Scheffler. She has been there for him since day 1 and is constantly seen on the sidelines cheering on as her husband makes short work of the golf course. In times of reflection and need for strength, that is who Scheffler leans on. “She’s my biggest supporter. She knows me better than everybody. She saw me go from being a fairly anonymous player on the Tour to being No.1 in the world. She kinda reminded me why I go out to play. If I lost that day, she loves me the same. It is the same for my family. I get emotional because I really believe that. At the end of the day, the tournament doesn’t define who I am as a person.” Strong, passionate words from the best golfer in the world.

And in that spirit, Scheffler clinched his first major at Augusta in 2022. In tough conditions, he chugged out, displaying his trademark consistency across the first three days. He raced to a three-stroke lead befitting his World No.1 stature. One day left before he etched his name in the annals of golfing history.

Scottie Scheffler’s last hole at the 2022 Masters

The last day had something about it that will be difficult to explain. While the scoreboard at the end did not signify it, Scheffler was fighting a close battle with Australian golfer, Cameron Smith. After two holes, Cameron Smith had two birdies to push his score to 8 under par, while Scheffler had two pars to stay at 9 over par. Despite the round being delicately poised, Scheffler was calm and composed. He proceeded to birdie the third while Smith carded a bogey, to push the lead back up by three strokes.
