The Internet is indeed a rather funny place. Collin Morikawa posted a picture of himself in the pool a few hours ago on his official Instagram account as his story. He quoted the record of the Olympian who became the only swimmer to grab eight gold medals in one Olympics (2008 Beijing) and wrote, “Michael Phelps castaway 100m swim is about 47 seconds.” Well, that was not the challenge that was posed. According to the PGA Tour pro, he can beat the Olympian’s record, given he was to only cover half the distance.

In the story, Morikawa wrote, “Can an average swimmer swim 50m faster?” Stating this, he put up a poll for the audience to decide on the same story. The poll was tagged as “I’m the average swimmer,”  with a positive and a negative option. Well, it looks like a little more than half the Internet believes that Morikawa could defeat Phelps’ record!

51% of his followers voted for ‘Yes’, and 49% of them voted for ‘No’. After 24 hours, he posted another story of the pool and wrote, “Voting is almost perfect at 50/50.” Asking his audience if he should try his hand at any other sport, he even questioned, “What other things could create such a split that I need to test?” This gave out some great ideas, one of which was posed by Claire Rogers. The senior social media manager at Golf.com reshared the stories of Collins Morikawa on her official X account.

She then put forward the idea that she came up with last year. It would be more like a pro golf game with a mixture of field days. Like there would be a golf match, which will be followed by some random race. “See who has the best 40-yard dash, vertical, etc., and then throw in some random stuff like a potato sack race,”  she wrote in the caption.

While Collin Morikawa is out there trying to explore Michael Phelps’s professional world, it looks like the retired swimmer has already established his name quite well in the PGA Tour Pro’s profession.

Michael Phelps started appearing on golf courses after retirement

Michael Phelps’s swimming journey has been a rather extensive and significant one. From the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games to his final appearance in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, he has undoubtedly left an indelible mark. However, after his retirement, he has been spending his time with his clubs, doing everything he can to steer clear of the water, sand traps, and any other obstacles that might hinder him on the golf course.

“I’m just obsessed. I got my wife obsessed too, which is nice, so we get to get out and play a ton,” Phelps told the Boardroom in July. What are your thoughts about Michael Phelps and Collin Morikawa trying their hands at each other’s sports? Let us know in the comments section below!
