Collin Morikawa will be playing for the Stars and Stripes team in Montreal this weekend. He is currently ranked fourth on the Official World Golf Ranking list, right after Rory McIlroy. This earned him a direct qualification to be part of the American team at the 2024 Presidents Cup. This will mark his third appearance at the event after playing twice with Cameron Young in the lead-up to defeating Mito Pereira in singles.

The 27-year-old golfer turned pro in 2019, and while it was his hard work that propelled him into the Tour, he also believes that his Lady Luck helped him along the way. Collin Morikawa met Katherine Zhu in 2017 while playing collegiate golf. Since then, she has been supporting him through thick and thin. They got married in 2022, and her dedication to supporting her husband has remained the same. However, it looks like this time around, there might be a twist in the story.

So basically, whoever wins, it’s a victory for Katherine.

What confused Morikawa, though, was her recent post. Katherine Morikawa took to her official Instagram account a few hours ago and shared a picture of herself with the American professional right ahead of the Presidents Cup. While the picture had them both posing candidly in front of the American flag, the caption told a different story. It said, “Favorite week of the year. This one’s a bit more special than the others”, with a Canadian Flag. Morikawa confused as to who she is supporting commented, “Wait, who are you rooting for then?”

The couple is a fan favorite on the Internet with their silly banter. However, what catches the attention more is despite all the jokes online, it is not just Katherine Morikawa having her husband’s back. The support system is a two-way thing in their relationship.

After switching from golf completely, Katherine Morikawa now competes in half marathons and several running events. Currently, she has been preparing for the New York Marathon, which is to be held in November. She shares all the updates on her Instagram account, and most of them feature her husband. A few weeks ago, she shared a post prepping for the marathon.

They were spotted near the Vancouver city bridge on the road. While Morikawa was on his bike, she was on her toes, running. Another post showed a video of Morikawa slow biking while his wife kept pace, as they did it together. She captioned it, “Smiles for miles with my ride or die 😁 New York Marathon here we come!”
