Women’s golf is not as popular as men’s, but if you know even a little about it, Lydia Ko is bound to come up, and with her, in recent times, the name of Leona Maguire. Although Ko has played much longer as a professional, Leona is just as talented and gives her a run for her money in every game. That being said, let’s compare the career earnings of the two stars.

Leona Maguire has a promising future in the LPGA

Leona Maguire had a splendid career as an amateur golfer. In June of 2018, she turned pro, and on the 8th of June, she played her first professional game on the LPGA Tour. Despite her incredible talent, it took Maguire four years to achieve her first Tour victory.

Earlier this year, Leona Maguire competed in the LPGA Drive-In Championship. She took home both the win and the trophy by beating world No. 7, Lexi Thompson, by three strokes. The Irish golfer saw her first winner’s cut of the total purse and left with $225,000. Leona has had a splendid season so far on the tour this year.

In addition to her first win, Maguire had six other top-10 finishes this year. and has a total of 13 top-10 finishes in her career. She has earned a total of $2,328,359 in her career and is currently competing in the $7 million LPGA Tour Championship. The world No. 20 will undoubtedly be looking to take home a win there and is currently battling it out with Lydia Ko for the win. With one round remaining, it’s anyone’s game. Regardless, Leona has a long career ahead of her and will look to get a few more wins under her belt.

Lydia Ko seems destined for greatness

The world no. 3 has been superb throughout her career. She turned professional in 2013, and she made her debut at the 2013 CME Group Titleholders. She got her first win as a pro on the Tour in 2014, at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. Since then, Ko has won 15 more times on the tour. She won two as an amateur.

Ko’s 18 LPGA Tour wins also include two majors. The LPGA superstar won the Evian Championship in 2014 and the ANA Inspiration in 2015. With multiple major wins and numerous Tour event wins, it is unquestionably evident that Ko will have more career earnings than Maguire.

Lydia’s total career earnings are $14,695,357. She has 107 career top 10s, of which 13 came this season. Ko is currently competing alongside Leona Maguire in the CME Group Tour championship. The winner of which will win $2 million. If the former world No. 1 were to win this, it would be her third win on the tour this season.
