The 2022 Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series is all set to begin today. Moreover, the field for the week is considerable, with golfers like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood, and others. Meanwhile, initially, it was only about Phil Mickelson as his comments about the Saudi-backed league and PGA Tour went viral. 

Furthermore, Mickelson faced harsh consequences as he lost the majority of his sponsors and faced criticisms. He even went away from the public limelight for more than two months. However, the 51-year-old is back playing competitive golf, starting with the rival league.

Recently, people saw the new golf bag since he lost his all-important equipment sponsors. Therefore, Phil is a free agent and doesn’t have any sponsors apart from his own Grayhawk GC. He even has his iconic celebration image imprinted on the side of the bag. And apart from that, there is not much of a difference visible.

Previously, Phil Mickelson had Callaway as equipment sponsors. Hence, all his clubs and golf bag came from Callaway. So apart from losing that brand on his golf bag, there aren’t any significant changes to his bag. 

However, the left-handed golfer had some of the best-customized golf clubs in his bag that he will surely miss going forward. Since Phil is now a free agent, he can use different golf clubs. Although, according to the latest images, we can see a Callaway wedge in his bag, while the status of the rest of the clubs is unknown.

Does Phil Mickelson currently have any sponsors? 

Phil Mickelson currently has no sponsors apart from his own Greyhawk Golf Club. Additionally, Phil had KPMG on his cap and a workday on his tee-shirt as sponsors. However, there is no sponsor for Phil as of now, and he has his iconic celebration pose printed on his cap as well.

Most probably, this is how we might see Mickelson going forward, as getting sponsors for the route he has chosen is tough. Even fans from around the world have expressed their opinions on the same. A few people were surprisingly happy to see the sponsorless bags, while others trolled him for the same.

After this week’s LIV Golf event, Phil will most probably compete in the 2022 U.S. Open. Additionally, the USGA has allowed all the LIV golfers to play in the upcoming major championship.
