In response to the honor, Spiranac gave an honest opinion on the decision. Tweeting on the same post, she put forward two reasons as to why she took the plaudits.

Well, it wasn’t the answer we thought of, but works just fine! The ex-golfer tweeted, “Two big reasons why”, before admitting they were her “golf knowledge” and “personality”. She eclipsed golf legend, Tiger Woods in the rankings, who had a follower count of 2.7 million.

The tweet was enough to make the ardent fanbase of Spiranac go crazy. The nine-word comment garnered over 25,000 likes and more than 500 retweets. It was further evidence to Spiranac’s popularity over the years, which was more than any other golfer on the Tour.
