It’s been a year of struggles for her, if truth be told. Something similar went down at the Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club — in Vancouver, British Columbia. Be that as it may, Lydia Ko’s recent post shows she is still hopeful, and there is good reason. Let’s dive into the story.

Lydia Ko chooses gratitude over stress
In the third round in Vancouver, Ko experienced a not-so-good game. She carded a 10-over 82 on Saturday, one of her worst scores ever, and reached a new career-low. It made her sit on the last spot on the leaderboard and entirely out of contention on Day 4.
Even though she started strong with a birdie on the first hole, things took a horrible turn thereafter. She saw three consecutive bogeys on holes 11, 12, and 13, followed by another two on holes 17 and 18. After that, Lydia Ko admitted that seeing the good side of things becomes difficult in these instances. But her new Instagram post shows an improvement in that thought.
She took to her profile and posted about her supporters. “First group out as a one ball was a new one, but seeing the crowds surround the first tee, and continue to watch me play, brought tears to my eyes,” she said. “Not sure what I did to deserve all the support and love. Feeling blessed and grateful. Thank you!” she added.

The cheers and support of her fans are keeping Lydia Ko hopeful about her fortune changing soon. The LPGA icon has shown impressive performances with major triumphs and the world no.1 tag in the past. There is every reason she will move on from a very disappointing season and turn it around next season. Let’s see what exactly happened to Ko in the season gone by.

A season of lows for Lydia Ko!
Lydia Ko started the season with a bang. Her Aramco Saudi Ladies International Championship victory appeared to be a great omen. But shockingly, it is the only top-10 finish she has had this year. Things went south for her after the Saudi triumph, and it remains to date.
Her seven-penalty episode at the Dana Open garnered much attention from everywhere. As per the KPMG Performance Insights in June, the LPGA star’s numbers were truly heart-breaking: 50th rank in strokes gained total, 100th in strokes gained putting, and 47th in scoring average.

Her numbers today are in complete contrast to what they were last year. She was so good last year that she was named LPGA’s Player of the Year.
Even though she has not had the season she hoped for, Lydia Ko gracefully accepts the fact she has not been up to the mark. And now her vision is to look ahead and prepare for the next challenge.
