The late stage of Tiger Woods’ career has been embroiled in injuries. The 15-time major winner has suffered one after another career setbacks due to niggling injuries throughout the last decade. Currently recovering from an ankle surgery, a five-year-old confession has thrown more light on the ace golfer’s grimacing injury-ridden past.
After the 2018 Tour Championship win, Woods confessed it was the first time his children properly understood why he fought so hard to get back to the greens. The golfer also confessed something that revealed the extent of his injuries and the pain he had to endure to play again.

When Tiger Woods’ children didn’t want him to practice
In 2014, he had to withdraw from Arnold Palmer Invitational because of a back injury. The following year, he had to undergo two Microdiscectomy surgeries. Moreover, from 2014 to 2017, he went through four surgeries on his back.
It was also the time his two kids, Sam Alexis Woods and Charlie Axel Woods, were growing up. Unfortunately, in their formative years, they couldn’t see their dad in prime. On the contrary, golf carried a negative image in their mind. As their dad struggled to find his footing in golf, for the kids, golf meant watching their father writhing in pain.

In an interview, Woods claimed that there was a time when his children would urge him not to practice. “For a long time, they equated golf to, ‘Dad’s hurting more.’” However, as they grew older, and started attending their father’s matches, they understood what it meant for the former world no.1 to play golf. “Now they’re starting to see the joy that I get from it,” he added. It was the 2018 Tour Championship win where they truly understood why Woods endured so much pain to be back on the greens.

Now, Charlie Woods himself is a budding star, winning back-to-back tournaments for himself and his school. Tiger woods, however, had undergone another surgery, this time on his ankle, to address issues that occurred during his 2021 car accident. That begs the question when can fans expect to see him again?

When will Woods return to the Greens?
Sadly, for Tiger Woods fans, there has no confirmed date yet for his return. The last Major win for the golf-legend was in 2019 at the Masters.
The 15x Major winner had to withdraw from the U.S Open due to the ankle surgery. Although, he returned to the greens, the 81-time-PGA-Tour winner only caddied for his son, at Notah Bogey III Junior Golf Championship last month.

That has offered fans some glimmer of hope that the golf legend’s return might be in the offing. The father-son duo has made it a yearly routine to play at the PNC Championship. Fans are eager to see if Woods can recover in time for this year’s PNC Championship in December.
