If not WNBA, Caitlin Clark would have become a star athlete in golf. Yes, she loves basketball, but on the side, golf has been another one of her loves, since she was a child. In an interview with TJ Sports Queen, the 22-year-old prodigy revealed that when she was a child and didn’t have any other sports to play, golf was her choice. She

Clark said, “I would beg my dad, like whenever I had a rare weekend I didn’t have, like a soccer tournament or softball or basketball, I would beg my dad to take me golfing.” After playing the John Deere Classic in 2022 and 2023 and making the Iowa crowd go crazy for her golfing skills, the Indiana Fever guard will be making her LPGA Tour debut.
Well, not professionally, but she will be playing at The Annika Driven by Gainbridge at the Pelican golf club, as Sports Business Journal reporter Josh Carpenter shared on X. She will also appear at the Leadership Summit beside Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam and play in the Pro-Am of the event on Wednesday. Clark and the event both are sponsored by Gainbridge. The event has been scheduled to start on November 14th and concludes on the 17th. The Pro-Am will be on 13th November.

With the WNBA season concluding and the players enjoying the off-season, it would be a delight for the fans to see Clark on the golf course, which rarely happens these days. While basketball is the focal point in the Indiana Fever guard’s life, there is an interesting reason why Clark plays golf from time to time.

Caitlin Clark reveals when and why she plays golf
If you love golf, having many golf clubs is given and Clark is no different. Caitlin revealed that she has many clubs, including the SM and Smoke from Callaway, but she just cannot use all of them. So, the club gets passed to her father, Brent Clark, who has been the inspiration behind her to start playing golf. But now, as she ventures on a path to becoming a part of the Hall of Fame, even though golf comes rarely into her life, she makes sure it does.
As it is given, the 22-year-old always wants to get better and that includes her golf skills. Thus, Clark is always up and about, either practicing basketball or working out in the gym. She said in an interview with Golf Digest, “Our coaches were like, ‘You need to get away from the gym,’ even though that’s really hard for me to do sometimes. I still want to be active and do something, so I’m going to go to the golf course.” And that’s how golf becomes a part of her busy schedule these days.

At one point, she used to beg to play golf, now it is not something she can’t do as easily. Regardless, it would be exciting to see the Iowa native play golf with other LPGA Tour pros at The ANNIKA Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican and drain some birdies!
