The iconic Memorial Tournament is finally starting today. The Muirfield Village Golf Club has been all set up to welcome world-renowned golfers. Among various big names that are part of the playing field, the fan-favorite Jordan Spieth‘s presence is surely one of the most anticipated ones. The golfer hasn’t had an ideal year so far.

He couldn’t make a few tournament cuts and registered an injury to his name. However, it is not his game or performance that has the golf world talking. Rather, the 2015 Masters winner has been a visitor of a wrist injury that had an impact on his well-being. Although, with the recent update on social media, there might be some good news for Spieth and his fans.

Before his first round in Ohio, PGA Tour Pro Jordan Spieth, was spotted on the greens. While everyone has been concerned about the golfer’s performance because of his recent injury, the latest visuals emitted an optimistic vibe. The picture carried an air of positivity with it.  The Twitter handle Golf Injury Report said, “Jordan Spieth (Wrist) no longer wearing tape up his left forearm. He’s said that the wrist injury has felt better every day“. The account gave a shout-out to @esgolfbets as she was the first one to notice it.

This spells good news for the professional and the viewers. With a big tournament that boasts a competitive field at Muirfield Village, Spieth would want to be in his prime condition, physically and mentally. Despite the injury he has faced, we have seen the golfer take on the greens at the PGA Championship and the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge. However, the skills and expertise of the golfer have been challenged by the injury. This is something he would like to avoid in the 2023 Memorial Tournament.

Earlier in the month of May, the professional had suffered from ‘severe pain‘ which had led him to miss the A T&T Bryson Nelson tournament in his hometown Texas. If this wasn’t enough of a setback, the execution from the three-time major winner wasn’t at par with his regular skills at the 2023 PGA Championship because of the same. Even Spieth affirmed the impact of the injury on his shots. Not only Rochester, but Forth Worth also witnessed an underwhelming performance from Jordan Spieth where the Pro failed to make the cut.

The unexpected reason behind the wrist injury of Jordan Spieth

Despite the golf world being aware of Jordan Spieth’s physical injury, the reason wasn’t known by many. Just before the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge, the Texan confirmed the situation that led to the pain. The reason, though, sounded quite out of the blue. As per the golfer, it was an incident that took place at home while he was with his year-old son that left him with a wrist injury.

“No, it was after I got home. I was just playing with my son. I wasn’t even holding him or anything. I was just pushing myself off the ground while he was like laughing and going side to side. Something just popped and jammed, and then all of a sudden, I couldn’t move it and got on it right away,” said the former World No.1.

The wrist injury allowed us to witness the resilient side of the American golfer. Despite the physical issue, he participated in a number of tournaments. While it is nice to just have the 29-year-old, the fans would be anticipating a great performance as well. With the positive update that might just be possible and we are surely looking forward to it!
