The Detroit police department is currently on its toes to identify and investigate a recent mishap at the well-known Detroit Golf Club. Home to the prestigious Rocket Mortgage Classic tournament, the golf course is currently under inspection for a horrifying reason. As per reports, there has been a huge chemical spill at the place. And notably, the accident resulted in damaging two greens, the 11th and the 12th, at the club. Updates have now started to float.

Club superintendent Stephen Moynihan revealed the possibility of the North Course being sprayed with Glyphosate – a chemical used to kill weeds and grass! “The greens will need to remain closed to allow the fastest possible recovery time and to keep any undue stress off the plants,” he said in his statements.

There is still hope for Rocket Morgage Classic!

Detroit G.C. is an iconic club that has been in existence since 1899. The aftermath of the spillage resulted in exposing the brown soil patches in figure-eight and zig-zag patterns has left the golf fans disheartened. The only saving grace confirmed by Moynihan was that the grassroots remain intact. However, the recovery time is subject to a couple of external factors. He added, “The length of time the greens will take to recover will continue to be weather dependent, the colder the weather, the slower the recovery.”

Despite Moynihan’s statements, none of the fans were ready to believe Moynihan’s Glyphosate comments. A lot of these fans decided to put the blame on LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman based on his consistent back and forth with the PGA Tour.

Another user brought Norman into the mix, and said, “Greg Norman. Bet!”

Fans voiced their opinions as well. One commented, My opinion…it’s a gasoline leak from a backpack blower that was used to blow off the greens this spring. Look at the walking pattern. Vandals would take junks out of the green not spray weed killer.”

On the other hand, this passionate golf fan was furious. They even called it an “Act of Terrorism” and criticized the responsible individuals for the disaster.

Another raging golf fan wrote that the actions warranted a “Death penalty.”
