Tiger Woods, the 15-times majors winner, and his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, have been in the limelight for various reasons since the very beginning of their relationship. One such incident dates back to 2006, right before the start of Ryder cup.

An Irish magazine and a tabloid had linked the images of the Swedish model, Elin Nordegren to various pornographic websites. This act had infuriated Tiger so much that he legit spent the first half of his news conference shouting at the responsible magazine.

Tiger Woods stood up for Elin Nordegren

Tiger Woods once lashed out at an Irish magazine in 2006 for linking pictures of his wife Elin Nordegren to a pornography site. The Dublin magazine wrote some highly derogatory things. Later they claimed it to be a satire, which they did expect will be taken seriously by anyone. The Irish magazine wrote, “Most American golfers are married to women who cannot keep their clothes on in public,” the magazine wrote. “Is it too much to ask that they leave them at home for the Ryder Cup? Consider the evidence. Tiger Woods’ wife can be found in a variety of sweaty poses on porn sites.”

Infuriated Woods lashed out at the magazine for falsely linking his wife to pornographic websites with a derogatory implication. Woods said, “My wife, yes, she has been a model prior, and she did do some bikini photos. But to link her to pornographic websites and such is unacceptable, and I do not accept that at all. Neither does our team.”

The Publishers of Dublin Media Limited later had to issue an apology for the same. In the apology issued by the media house, they clarified their intention and said that it was meant to be satire. They did not expect that it would be taken seriously by either Tiger Woods or Elin Nordegren.

Woods and Nordegren are back now as best friends

The story of Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren can never grow old. Although the two had a split in 2010, the two have never stopped being a unit. They have been co-parenting their soulful children, Sam and Charlie Woods, ever since the separation. In an interview with TIME, Tiger called Elin his best friend. In his actual words to TIME, “She’s one of my best friends. We’re able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time.” Regretting his past actions, Woods further said, “We both know that the most important things in our lives are our kids. I wish I would have known that back then.”

Even though, both the golf legend and the former Swedish model have proceeded on different paths in their lives. Their names will always be used as a team for they have been through the ups and downs of each other.
