Phil Mickelson is well-known for his random acts of kindness among his fans. The golfer once stopped by a lemonade cart and tipped $100 to two kids near a golf course. After all, leaving big tips for the people who deserve it is not a new thing for Lefty. However, there was one time when Mickelson gave a $10,000 tip to the staff at a golf club!

Phil Mickelson and his way of giving back to the people around him

Mickelson was going through a bad phase in his career during the 2006 US Open. The golfer lost the tournament with a double bogey on the final hole. It was one of the worst falls Mickelson had ever taken. However, despite his failure at the event, the golf legend was courteous enough to thank the people who helped him throughout the tournament.

And keeping up with his reputation for having a big heart, Mickelson thanked each member of the staff by handing out tips to them. The golfer had spent a lot of time at Winged Foot preparing for the tournament. And according to his experience, the staff had been very helpful and supportive towards him. The player thanked the staff members for their work and handed out cash to each of them. While some got $1000, others received $1500!

According to the people who witnessed Mickelson’s act of kindness, the golf legend tipped at least $10,000 to the staff throughout the week. And that was not all. After he left the place, he had the moral call to turn around suddenly. Mickelson had forgotten to tip a bunch of locker-room guys, and he didn’t want to feel guilty later!

Adding to Mickelson’s tipping stories, there was a time when Mickelson handed out $100 as a tip to two kids selling lemonade. Mickelson was at one of PGA’s Memorial Tournaments, and to his surprise, he spotted two siblings on the side of the road. Elise and Roland Van Karsen were smart enough to set up their shop near the tournament.

“He just opened the door and said can we have a glass of lemonade”, the little boy claimed in excitement. He then addressed that Mickelson gave them a $100 tip for a glass of lemonade. However, the kids’ plans of spending the $100 were more interesting for them than meeting the golf star.
