Tiger Woods had the hype around him from a very young age. Since his debut in 1996, Woods has been living up to the hype through his amazing game. Being considered a prodigy, one may expect Woods’ parents to be lenient towards him. However, once, his parents’ anger almost led to them kicking the future Hall of Famer out of their house.


Tiger has 82 professional wins which also include his 15 Major titles. After  26 successful years of professional career, Woods is widely labeled as one of the greatest golfers of all time. But long before his accolades in the professional circuit, a young Tiger was already making a name for himself in the Junior Golf Championship.

During his amateur career, Woods had Six junior world championships to his name, was the only player to win three US junior championships in a row, and was a three-peat winner of the US amateur from 1994 to 1996. Despite all these accomplishments, the golfer was on the brink of being kicked out of his parent’s home.

Tiger Woods’ strict parents almost kick him out

Over the years, Woods has mentioned his love for several things. The golfer cited his fondness for cheeseburgers during the 1998 Masters Champions Dinner. However, the other thing the 15-time Major loves is rap music.

From a young age, Tiger Woods fell in love with rap songs. Tiger’s father Earl Woods, loved to listen to jazz music. He did make the golfer listen to jazz music initially, but as Tiger grew a bit older, rap took his fancy. However, his parents weren’t very happy with his choice.

After one point, they hated the music so much that it led to them giving an ultimatum to kick Tiger out of the house if he didn’t stop listening to it. Nonetheless, the 15-time Major winner didn’t get kicked out.

Years later, Woods still listens to rap music. However, he labeled Prince as one of his favorite artists. Tiger has also stated that his favorite genre of music is R&B. Though currently, he may not have the same love for rap music as he did when he was young, the new era rappers do pay their respect to the golfing legend.

In his latest albumCertified Lover Boy”, Canadian rapper, Drake, paid a tribute to the golfer in his song “In the Bible”. In one of the verses, Drake raps, “Think I’m Tiger Woods, the way I’m teed off thе 17. And you know pockets on whatever, jеans forever green”. Notorious B.I.G also mentioned the golfer in his song “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems”.

If Tiger Woods was kicked out by his parents back then, things would have been a lot more different. Nonetheless, Woods maintained his discipline according to his father’s requirements and went on to become one of the greatest.
