Phil Mickelson surprised many by being the face of LIV Golf last year. However, by now, the dust has settled and the fans have come to an agreement with Lefty’s decision. Nonetheless, the cold war among the Tours continues. In the latest development, Mickelson liked a tweet that downplayed the PGA Tour, while simultaneously hyping next month’s Saudi International event.
Despite the Tournament in Saudi Arabia being less than a month away, the build-up surrounding it has been no short of entertaining. The Asian Tour event will be comprised of plenty of stars from the LIV Golf competing against a handful of PGA Tour stars.
Though next month’s Saudi International does not come under the LIV Golf banner, the event is sponsored by Saudi Public Investment Fund, which bankrolls the breakaway Tour. However, while looking at the field, many would confuse it with the lucrative Tour.

Phil Mickelson indirectly disses his former Tour
Mike McAllister, who is the Editorial Director of LIV Golf, shared his joy on Twitter regarding his Tour. In his tweet, Mc Allister shared that all 48 players, who participated in the Breakaway Tour’s season finale in Miami last year, will step foot on the course in Saudi Arabia next month.
Moreover, he added two-time Major winner Bubba Watson will also be returning for the Saudi International from his knee injury. Meanwhile, another Twitter account named LIV Golf Insider, which isn’t officially associated with the Tour shared names of some of the PGA Tour players competing in the Asian Tour event such as Cameron Young, Cameron Champ, and Lucas Herbert.

Following the tweet, a Phil Mickelson fan wrote, “I’m pumped for the @SaudiIntlGolf”. The fan then threw shade at the PGA Tour by labeling the upcoming Saudi event as the season opener for golf, while ignoring the American Tour’s season opener Fortinet Championship.
I'm pumped for the @SaudiIntlGolf. As far as I am concerned it is the season opener for golf. The PGAT no longer interests me.#LIVGOLF #PHILTHETHRILL @PhilMickelson
