Despite Earning $36M on LIV Golf in 2023, Talor Gooch Reveals His Bizarre ‘Superstitious Tendencies’ in Latest Confession

Do you believe in superstitions? Because it seems many in the golf world do. From Jack Nicklaus carrying the three coins in his pockets for good luck, to golfers never cleaning their golf equipment or fearing the Masters Par 3 curse, the golf community harbors various superstitions.

Whether to avoid bad luck or to gain good luck, the golfers pick their own unique set of beliefs. One such golfer with such peculiar habits on today’s list is Talor Gooch. The LIV golfer recently shared his ‘little stitious’ habits that he makes sure to follow before teeing up at any event.

Talor Gooch is the reigning LIV Golf Individual Champion, the 32-year-old has won many times in his life but before winning he follows through a few processes. Gooch was the recent guest on the Fairway to Heaven podcast by Su-Ann Heng and Jerry Foltz.

Off the bat, the golfer started explaining his work day and then ventured onto the topic of superstitions and how he is not as superstitious as others. Although Gooch later did reveal the little habits he has picked up through the years. When asked about his tendencies, Gooch said that he is a little superstitious.

Moreover, he explained, “I don’t do everything, you know, in my life revolving around my superstitious tendencies. I don’t have a ton of superstitious tendencies. I just have a few little tendencies that are stitious.” The 3x LIV Golf winner then went on the describe a few of his superstitious beliefs.

Gooch expressed that he has to mark the golf balls all the same every time, furthermore, he uses coins to mark the green but only those from the 60s, a superstition also followed by the veteran golfer Davis Love III. Another habit of Gooch, as he confessed, is he marks “405” on his golf ball, which is the area code from where he is – Midwest City, Oklahoma. Gooch is not the only golfer to have superstitions, there are many legendary golfers who have iconic superstitious habits as well.

Various superstitions in the golf world 

Tiger Woods only wears his iconic red and black attire for the final day of any event. A superstition around the color red and its meaning coming off as powerful. Another legendary golfer, Nicklaus, believes in the power of always having three coins in his pocket while teeing it up on the greens.

On the other hand, Ernie Els has a superstition related to golf balls. He thinks a ball loses its charm after making a birdie and it should be replaced before playing the hole. Another known golf belief is anyone winning the Par 3 contest at the Masters never triumphs at the event. Many superstitious beliefs are floating in the golf world.
