Despite Greg Norman’s Scathing Attack, Golf’s Most Thrilling Rivalry Took an Unexpected Turn With Nick Faldo’s Cryptic Response in 2017

The beef between Greg Norman and Nick Faldo during the 1996 Masters is not something unknown to people. And yet again, history repeated itself in 2017.
They have established the 1996 Masters as one of the most excellent sporting “chokes” in the sport’s history. Norman losing to Faldo was a shock to his fans. However, ‘the white shark’ of golf later revealed that he lost the match because of his bad back. At Augusta National 26 years ago, the LIV CEO led with a six-stroke over Nick Faldo. However, the Aussie played a catastrophic 78, and Faldo, now Sir Nick, fired a 67 to win by five shots.

However, the LIV head said that there was much more behind the loss of that match because he did have back issues that morning. The former pro tried to walk it off, but he couldn’t. Later, he informed his coach that the day would be hard. The loss must have been frustrating as it was Norman’s third masters near miss.
After losing to Faldo in 1996, Norman went to the beach and lay on it. And he tried to accept that he messed up winning the one tournament he wanted to win. He was shedding tears. That was the only time he brought his favorite sport’s emotions to his home.
Now let’s find out what happened in 2017.
The petty feud between Greg Norman and Nick Faldo
In 2017, Norman commented on the golf commentators and called them “boring.” He said he watched the Masters on TV, where Sergio Garcia won the tournament. But he was so bored that he had to mute the telecast. Norman disliked the quality of the commentary as it was going downhill for him. According to Worldwide golf, he said, “One thing I find far from appealing is the quality of some of the commentating on TV.”

Not just the commentary, but he also found the players to be quite dull. But the flaw was monotonous comments during play. There was no originality or uniqueness. He said, “You get that constant monotone voice: everyone hits a great shot, nobody has an opinion.” Everyone was trying to please the apple cart. And they used to weigh everyone under the same criteria as everyone’s shot was terrific.
