The third major tournament of the 2023 season, the US Open, has finally concluded. After all the anticipation about the winner, it is Wyndham Clark who has been crowned the LACC champion after his maiden major victory. Although the 29-year-old took home the trophy, there was one other golfer for whom everyone was rooting this weekend, and it was none other than Rickie Fowler.

Fowler was also on his toes this weekend to get his much-awaited first major victory, and end his three-year-old winless drought. Although he failed in his bid, Fowler’s class act toward the 2023 US Open winner moved everyone not a little. Let’s check out what he did.

Fowler’s fans were praying really hard but as it turned out, their prayers didn’t work at the end of the day. His 123rd US Open, however, had started on a really high note when he wrote history and carded the lowest-ever opening-round score in the tournament’s history, that is 8-under 62.

Then on Sunday at the end of the final round, Fowler continued where he had left off.

Clark and Fowler shared a special moment with each other where the 5-time PGA Tour winner congratulated him and said,Your mom was with you. She’d be very proud.”

Fowler’s compassion toward the winner, whose mother had passed away in 2013, was reported by Golf Digest on its social media handle, and the media house referred to it as a “class act.”
