Fans know Tiger Woods and Steve Williams as one of the most potent golfer-caddie pairs. However, their split up also caused controversies. Williams was the pro’s right-hand man as he conquered the golf world in the early 2000s. They paired up together for years to register numerous wins under their name. But, any reconciliation seemed unlikely, given what Williams said about the major championship winner. The legendary golfer took a positive step to resolve their issues, which was unexpected.

Williams was Woods’ caddie for 13 of his first 14 major victories. His involvement on the 71st hole in the 1999 PGA Championships was the sole reason for the pro golfer’s triumph. Their relationship became more robust as Woods eliminated his rivals. But his 2009 controversy’s aftereffects were so toxic that they also harmed his on-course and personal relationships. After setting aside their differences, Williams and Woods shook hands at the first tee on the first day of the Presidents Cup in 2011. The former number one golfer had no beef with former caddie Steve Williams. The former duo did not speak since the New Zealander caddie got himself into trouble by telling the crowd at a caddies’ awards ceremony in Shanghai, something that no one expected. He said his celebration of Adam Scott winning a world championship event in August was “to shove it right up that black a*******.”

However, later Williams apologized for his outburst, but the major championship winner showed who was bigger. He took the first step towards the re-uniting. Woods said, “I put my hand out there to shake it and life goes forward. There’s some great things that Steve and I did and that’s how I look at it.”
Respecting his old times with the caddie, the golfer wanted to keep the hatred aside. He also talked about maturity and how life works. Moving on was the key.
