Being the caddie of a 15-time Major winner also includes watching an end number of stories unfold. Nonetheless, the legendary golfer decided to part ways with his long-time caddie back in 2011.

Four years later, Steve Williams released a book that included stories revolving around his relationship with Woods and much more. In one such saga, the Kiwi caddie revealed how Tiger stunned him during one of their first meetings.

Tiger Woods leaves Steve Williams in awe

In the book ‘Out of the Rough,’ Williams revealed how Woods was very young compared to his previous clients. “Tiger, at 23, was a lot younger than me. I was 35 and until now had caddied only for older players”, wrote the veteran Caddie in the chapter ‘The Good Life’ of his Autobiography.

“It would be a real culture shock,” added Williams. Despite the age difference being a concern, both men decided to meet in Orlando. As the Kiwi knocked on the door, Woods greeted him but then hurriedly left him saying, “Come in, but can you wait a minute? I’ve just got something I need to finish.”

As it turned out, the reason behind Woods’ impatient attitude was nothing but a video game. Steve Williams wrote, “What he needed to finish was a video game – something completely foreign to me. I had no concept of what he was trying to achieve in this game or even how to play the thing but I could see how competitive he was.”

The caddie further wrote the utter focus Woods had during his gaming session. “He was so focused on what was in front of him he was almost in a trance.” Williams ended by comparing Woods to his former client Raymond Floyd’s determination. “I’d seen Raymond’s ‘look’ so I knew what intense focus was but I’d yet to see anything quite like this.”

⁩As history turns out, both men then embarked on the journey of one of the most successful careers in all of the sports. The determination and passion to win are what made Tiger Woods one of the greatest. Though 46 years of age currently, many fans still reckon the Hall of Famer can add a lot more to his trophy cabinet deeming his fascination with winning.
