Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer are two of the most legendary figures in the history of golf. The 15-time major winner burst onto the scene in the late 1990s and quickly became a dominant force, captivating audiences with his prodigious talent and competitive fire.

Arnold, meanwhile, was a pioneer of the modern game. The pair shared a close relationship. Mover, the late golf legend, was one of the biggest inspirations for Woods. However, he does not want to follow in Palmer’s footsteps.

In a recent press conference for the Genesis invitational, the legend was asked if he would play 50 Masters like Palmer if he believed that he wouldn’t win.

Woods’ initial response was to outright refuse to play so many masters. He said, “Nope, I am not playing that many.”

He then explained that his competitive spirit would never allow him to play, just to be an ambassador of the game. “If I am playing, I am playing to win,” he added. “I know the players have played and they are ambassadors to the game and tried to grow the game. I can’t wrap my mind around that as a competitor.”

Tiger shared a very close bond with the king. Arnie described their relationship as that of a father and son. Palmer was one of the most popular ambassadors of golf.

Despite the king being Woods’ hero, he doesn’t think he would ever be able to play so many Masters like him. Moreover, the legend believes that sometimes his body wouldn’t allow him to play his best, which could win him tournaments. And he wouldn’t play to just be an ambassador because this is not who he is.
