‘Bad Boy’ and ‘Head of Entertainment’ are just some names that John Daly has been awarded with. The golfer indeed has 5 PGA Tour wins to his name including two major championships. However, those achievements aren’t the one that makes him different from other golfers. So, what could it be? Daly often shows his drinking habits on the greens, which, sometimes, draws criticism. However, despite these infamous habits, the community still adores him, largely due to his entertaining and unique gestures on the course. Thanks to that he still remains one of the unique players on the greens.

Recently, r/ProGolf shared a post on Reddit, captioning “I played a round with JJ Henry and he was absolutely on fire. Watching him hit lasers at every pin and leaving most inside 15 feet. He drained just about every putt, cant remember what he shot, but he had at least 7 birdies that day.” Following in the post the fan also added their experience with Todd Hamilton and lastly asked the community to drop their experience. While many talked about their experience, John Daly‘s name also came up. One user wrote “I’ve played with Daly a handful of times. Absolutely awesome guy to hang out with. His short game is unreal and he makes amazing enchiladas.”

Replying to this fan, another wrote “I’m jealous you got to play with Daly, I would play with home over most pros, just for the entertainment value alone!” Speaking of ‘entertainment value’, you can expect something interesting to happen whenever Daly is on the greens. For instance, the golfer once hilariously pulled off a beer can tee-shot. As it happened the crowd was in cheers. Aside from his intriguing gestures, John Daly is also known for his unique fashion sense, particularly his colorful pants.

His unique style has caught the attention not only of fans but also of his longtime friend, Paul McGinley, who once expressed his admiration. This happened when Daly turned 57, and ‘PGA Tour Champions’ shared a video on X, asking golfers who they would draft as their No. 1 pick in the Champions Tour Football Draft. As a response, McGinley saidJD, John Daly will be a choice. First of all, he’s a linebacker. But secondly, head of entertainment, I think he’d create a good vibe in the dressing room. Let’s put it that way!” While you might think these are the only incidents that make him different, there’s more.

Another incident that established John Daly as a unique golfer

While the golfer is allegedly famous for his drinking habits, he always had a love for rock music as well. Interestingly, he even once took the stage and showed his singing and guitar skills. A few days before the 2023 PNC Championship, during The Flamingo Jam—an event supporting The Jake Owen Foundation—the 5-time PGA Tour champion shared the stage with Darius Rucker, Toby Keith, and Jake Owen.

Later he shared the video on his Instagram captioning “Mama I’m still Knockin!!!!” The 58-year-old also mentioned Keith’s fight against cancer and his last chemo after which he expressed his admiration for the guy. Witnessing this gesture, people also praised him with comments like “John Daly is a legend indeed,” Man of the People,” and more. And his spark isn’t gone yet as John Daly still remains one of the fan-favorite golfers on the greens.
