It seems like no one can escape the Solheim Cup fever. The Ryder Cup’s sister tournament has got everyone talking. Now, three-time Solheim Cup winner and last edition’s US Team Vice-Captain Michelle Wie West has joined in to cheer for her country.

The biennial golf tournament has returned to European soil. For the first time, it is being played in Spain at Finca Cortesin Golf Club. The US team, helmed by Stacy Lewis and featuring established and rising stars like Nelly Korda, Danielle Kang, Lilia Vu, and Rose Zhang, will look to end the European Team’s dominance in recent times. Lewis & team have found a new backer in Wie West in their quest for glory.

Although West has retired from professional golf, she can’t contain her excitement for the upcoming tournament. West has enjoyed her moments of glory as part of the treble-winning US team of 2009. She went on to win two more titles as a US team member in 2015 and 2017.

Now, Wie West has taken to social media to voice her support for Lewis’ team. Tagging the US Solheim Cup team on her Instagram story, she urged them to bring the title back home. She wrote, “LET’S GO USA!!! Bring that cup back!!!”

It may be noted the previous two editions of the Solheim Cup went Team Europe’s way, so it’s no surprise there is plenty of desperation to bring the prestigious title back home. In fact, in the last six editions, Team Europe has won four times.

In their back-to-back triumphs in 2015 and 2017, Michelle Wie West was part of the American team, so it’s understandable why she is so excited.
