Tiger Woods is arguably one of the greatest players that the sport has ever witnessed. His stellar record on the course has helped him achieve the GOAT tag. The golfer has been a loyal PGA Tour pro ever since he started playing. But it now seems that Woods’ utter loyalty is being overlooked by PGA.

Tiger Woods expressed his concern and preference for a very vital change in the Tour’s format but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be adopted.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan has been very vocal about all the upcoming changes that the Tour is planning for the next season. “One of the things we’re working on for next year to make certain as it relates to cadence … is that there’s clear separation between designated events and our full‑field events and we get out of the position we’ve been in this year where we have a few isolated weeks,” said Monahan as mentioned in Sports Illustrated.

Tiger Woods, during his Masters presence, has made it clear that he prefers events where there are no cuts. “I certainly am pushing for my event to have a cut. I think that maybe the player-hosted events may have cuts. These are things that Jack Nicklaus and I are still in discussion with Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and the board and the Tour and the rest of the guys,” said Genesis Invitational’s host, according to Golf Channel.

But to the contrary, the Commissioner is set on no-cut events. “Our preference would be no-cut events.”

It seems that no cuts may not be sitting right with other golfers as well.

It seems that PGA Tour players are also pushing for the cuts. Jason Day shared his opinion, “I like having the cut, I’m on the other side of what most people think in regards to having a shorter (field)—we’re just going back to the WGC days, essentially. You’re going to have a great field, which is great. If you play well in those events, typically you’ll stay inside the top 50 (OWGR) every single year and that typically it’s a lot easier for you to stay in the top 50 that way.”

Continuing his take, Day spoke, “We’ve played golf our whole lives,. I think the majority of the fans out there know that you come in, you play two days. If you don’t play well, you’re out, you don’t get paid. That’s just how our lives work. Don’t get me wrong, if I’m in those events and we’re playing for guaranteed money, tremendous.”
