Trevino revealed reasons behind Jack Nicklaus’ success 

According to the 83-year-old, two things were the reason behind Nicklaus’ success. First was the golf great’s small hands.

While holding a golf club, the 18 time major champion would interlock his fingers and the club was always unbelievably loose when he wiggled it. “He had small hands and small hands to play golf with is better than huge hands,” he said. “Jack used an interlocking grip…, and when he wiggled the club, it was loose. It was unbelievable.”

Second was that he had a strong lower body that has helped him hit the ball, without changing its trajectory. “Jack was so strong from his lower body that he could hit the ball extremely high,” he added. “The ball didn’t go anywhere. That’s why he was so good at it.”

Trevino believes Nicklaus could have played any sport because he was a great athlete. But he chose to play golf. For him, ‘the golden bear’ is the most dedicated and the greatest golf player. Because all he did was practice to improve his skills.

Nicklaus pushed Trevino to be a better player

The six time major champion always looked up to Nicklaus. He was always aware that Nicklaus’ talent was unmatched. Although he was a hell of a wedger, he always used to prepare for and stay more alert when he was competing against the 83-year-old.
