Sarah Schmelzel is making waves on the golf course. The 29-year-old trailblazer has had a masterful season this year, with a T8 at the HSBC Women’s Champions in March, a T2 in the Blue Bay LPGA, and top-ten finishes in every event she has played since then. With her getting ready to tee off at the 2024 Chevron Championship, she appears to be in top form and a contender for the title. Outside the greens, Sarah Schmelzel has an entertaining and happy life.

She shares a great bond with her parents, Dennis and Amy Schmelzel, and her brother, John, who keeps supporting her. But who is John, and what does the man do in his life? Let’s find out.

Who is John Schmelzel?

Born on 8th January 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona, the 36-year-old John Schmelzel is her elder brother by six years and a few months. The two of them shared a fun childhood, as evidenced by their many childhood pictures collectively. In fact, the two of them have many fond memories of each other playing, along with their father. Sarah Schmelzel uses nicknames when referring to her brother John, as evident in her posts where she calls him “Juan”!

Apart from spending time making fun, the two also support each other. John has been spotted on the greens multiple times in support of his sister. He not only supports her as an audience but also deals with her stress and gives her emotional support. “Can’t thank @jwschmelzel enough for dealing with my daily witching hour,” she says to her brother on Instagram in a post. And that’s not to say that the brother is, in any way, lacking in his field of interest.

Sarah Schmelzel’s designer brother

Like her, Sarah’s brother John Schmelzel studied at the University of Arizona, where he majored in Political Science and Business and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. In addition to his extensive liberal arts education, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design from Scottsdale Community College while still an undergraduate, providing him with practical experience in the design industry.

His interest in interior design is front and center in his life, which he enhanced with useful real-world experience gained from an internship at a fancy trade showroom in Arizona. John was exposed to the complexities and lengthy histories of prominent furniture and textile firms worldwide during this internship. John’s fundamental experience gave him the confidence and know-how to take on increasingly complicated residential projects in Arizona, Hawaii, and Texas, along with resort communities.

During the early years of his professional career, John worked with Arcadia Design Group as an interior designer, taking up projects in Arizona and around Kona in Hawaii. John’s work path changed significantly in 2021 when he joined the team at the well-known NoMad Design agency. Serving as a senior designer and managing multiple residential and commercial projects, John has prospered by utilizing his broad skills and imaginative ideas.

John’s personal life

John has a private personal life, as seen by his private account on Instagram. Not much is known about him apart from his profession and birthday, which is understood thanks to his sister. We do not know whether he is married, dating someone, or whether he is single. Also, not much is known about his hobbies, or whether he enjoys sport or not, although he has been spotted on golf courses supporting his sister.

He, however, regularly features on his sister’s Instagram, with her using it to thank him, make fun of him, or just wish him a happy birthday. Sometimes, she even posts childhood photos of them together along with their father. It is no doubt that she misses them now that they don’t live with each other anymore. In a tweet she shared, she posted, “Had to break out a warm blanket since my apartment is Antarctica, and it smells like my parents’ house. My heart is too happy,” reminding herself and everyone how much she loves her family. 

John continues to be Sarah’s loving and supportive brother despite his own successful professional life. Sarah has recently shot to the top of the LPGA rankings. Although Sarah spends a large portion of the year traveling due to her game, John and their parents, Dennis and Amy, ensure she always has a safe and supportive home.
