Sun Day Red might have more than one major champion on their roster. The brand executives are not opposed to the idea, at least. But of course, Tiger Woods needs to take the final call. The 15-time major champion launched the apparel brand a month after ending his 27-year-long ties with Nike in January.

Asked whether there is a chance of growing the business and sponsoring Woods’s colleagues, Brad Blankinship, president of Sun Day Red, told Front Office Sports, “That will be his decision.” The veteran golfer hasn’t spoken about the expansion plans of the brand, however. Notably, Woods’s closest friends on the course, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas are both tied to two different brands.

Thomas sports Greyson Clothiers, and McIlroy is tied with Nike. Whereas, Charlie Woods has yet to sign a deal or an NIL contract with any particular apparel brand. However, the 15-year-old has sported Greyson clothes in the 2023 PNC Championship. There was a near-confirmed report that Greyson has signed Charlie Woods thanks to a shared story on the official Instagram handle. However, they deleted it later.

Along with sponsoring others, the executives also don’t rule out a return of the famous ‘TW’ logo. But that’s also left for the 82-time PGA Tour winner to decide. “For now, he’s put out there that that’s in his past and he’s ready to move forward. So, I would say time will tell and it will be Tiger’s decision,” explained Blankinship. Currently, the ‘SDR’ logo has 15 stripes that form a leaping tiger. The number represents Woods’s 15 majors. However, the 48-year-old aims to ruin that logo by adding another major title to his resume.

As for business expansion, Sun Day Red is indeed planning to be the be-all and end-all for all of Woods’s needs. TaylorMade, the parent company of Sun Day Red, has been the club sponsor since Nike shuttered their equipment business in 2016. And, now they are planning to take care of his footwear needs as well.

Sun Day Red shoes in the offing?

The Sun Day Red product hit the online market on May 1. Almost all apparel, hoodies, polos, hats, ball markers, and others were sold out within a few hours. Although they did reappear on eBay and other third-party sites at 4x and 6x the price, Blankinship is not alarmed by that. Rather, Woods will sport Sun Day Red kicks at the PGA Championship.

The Sun Day Red president told Front Office Sports, “The good news is we’ve got Tiger in our shoes, and they’re working well for him. That’s moving pretty fast—a little ahead of where we would have thought we’d be at this time.” Tiger Woods switched to a FootJoy model after his 2021 car accident, citing limited mobility as the reason. Nike, although confirmed to be working on a new shoe, didn’t have anything on offer. That issue is likely to be solved on Sun Day Red. The kicks will be available for sale by next year.
