Maya Lowe was born in 1994 and has Japanese descent. She also has relatives living in Japan. This is significant to the couple, as the 2-time major winner also has ties to Japan through his mother.

She attended the University of California, San Diego, where she graduated with a degree in Science and Public Health. She then got her master’s in Health Administration at the University of Maryland.
