Phil Mickelson has no shortage of rivals, but a big and constant name that has been after him for a long time is Alan Shipnuck. Known for his contributions to sports news like Golf Channel and Sports Illustrated, Shipnuck has a career spanning decades. And the majority of it he has spent covering Phil Mickelson, ironically, with whom he shares a rivalry.
In his recent appearance on a podcast, Shipnuck spilled many beans about the behind-the-scenes of the golf world. And this time, he also mentioned Donald Trump in his secrets.

Alan Shipnuck attacks LIV Golf
Shipnuck has shared a bitter relationship with Mickelson. Being a reporter and a writer, he has written, has been a harsh critic of Mickelson. After he released an unsolicited biography on the side last year, called Phil: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorized!) Biography of Golf’s Most Colorful Superstar, things got worse.
In one segment, Shipnuck also stated how Phil called Saudis “scary motherf***ers.” Now the author recently made an appearance on the Bunkered podcast, hosted by DC Thompson, where he also talked about what the result of the LIV Golf drama was. He said many people who know him as a sports writer when meeting him don’t ask him about the sports but rather about LIV.
He says, “This has gotten way beyond golf. I mean, you’re getting into these large questions of morality and geopolitics. And you have Donald Trump has been sucked into this story, you know, Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, um, this is like, serious box office that goes way beyond boutique sports.”

Shipnuck has been very candid about how the formation of LIV Golf has created chaos and left things ruffled.

Continuing his stance, Shipnuck added, “So yeah, I think the scale of it, the impact, you know, the congressional hearings that would happen on Capitol Hill, the United States, I mean, it’s just, it’s just become this monster story that was so many tentacles.” With his bold opinions, he has already offended Lefty many times. Now he is going after his beloved league.
