A negative side to an athlete’s career that many don’t notice is the public criticism. The world is a cold place, and sportspersons often find themselves at the brunt of it, especially on social media. Paige Spiranac is subjected to this negative side of the fans and the media more frequently than most. She is hated on and abused for the clothes she wears, and the things she says so frequently, that sometimes it does get to her too.

But Paige has figured out how to deal with it. She doesn’t let the hatred affect her choices and once said, “I don’t mind being s*xy.”

Paige Spiranac knows how to silence the haters

Paige Spiranac is the most-followed golfer on social media. The golf beauty has over 3.7 million followers on Instagram alone. However, with more followers and exposure comes more hate and bullying; and on some occasions, death threats too.

In a podcast on the Stripe Show, she once said, “I love my body, and it’s just a part of who I am.” The social icon then went on to talk about how the golf community is often offended by this because the sport is very “conservative.”

Spiranac is often called derogatory names like a “wh*re” or a “po**star” because she chooses to dress differently than the others on the course. A user once commented on her photo, saying she should be playing on “P**nhub.” Paige furiously responded, saying, “Wearing leggings to golf is not equivalent to doing p*rn.”

Spiranac has dealt with the scrutiny before

Paige Spiranac went on to reveal that this wasn’t her first run-in with criticism for her clothing. Back when she was in junior golf, the golfing beauty was often in trouble. She said, “Even in junior golf, I was always getting into trouble on the AJGA [American Junior Golf Association tour] because my skirts were too short.”

Spiranac is still hated, called a str*pper, and accused of p**nography—all because she doesn’t wear a collar on the golf course. She said, “And if you don’t even wear a collar, people are like, ‘She’s a str*pper!’ She’s doing p*rn!'” This shocked Paige, and she responded by saying, “I’m wearing a f***ing turtleneck.” “What are you talking about?”

Spiranac has faced the negative side of the golf community more than most players, and continues to do so. But regardless, she doesn’t change her opinions or views. She stands up for what she believes in, and speaks out for it. She often calls out her haters by dressing how she wants and telling them off.
