John Daly is not the one to back off from a challenge. Especially when it’s about apparel. The Colorful star of the PGA Tour didn’t miss out on such an opportunity this time either. Sarah Palin, the former Governor of Alaska, and an ardent Daly fan, challenged the 57-year-old to descend on the greens wearing a skirt.

The ‘skirt’ reference was to a parody X (formerly Twitter) account’s tweet quoting the PGA Tour Pro in the wake of Hailey Davidson’s NXXT Women’s Classic triumph. Tour Golf, a self-proclaimed Golf version of The Onion, quoted Daly as saying that he could win 100 tournaments in the LPGA Tour if he played wearing a skirt. Although Daly didn’t comment on the matter, Palin brought it to the two-time Major champion’s attention.

Sarah Palin picked the satiric quote from X and challenged Daly to walk the talk. Posting a screengrab of her tweet on her Instagram handle, the Alaskan native asked Daly to actually do it. “I challenge @PGA John_Daly [John Daly] to put on a skirt and do your thing,” the 59-year-old originally wrote in her Tweet with a wink emoji.

Resharing the story from his profile, the five-time PGA Tour winner wrote, “Don’t tempt me,” adding a ROFL emoji. Daly was, perhaps, pointing to his reputation as the avant-garde stylist on the greens. Palin, too, took notice of this and once again wrote she would be happy to invite Daly to pick anything from her wardrobe.  “I’ve got a closet full to choose from,” the political commentator wrote.

Daly hasn’t responded to this one yet. But the banter between the two on social media once again put the spotlight on Hailey Davidson’s historic triumph. The NXXT Women’s Pro Tour has also made a major announcement in its wake.

NXXT will survey its players

Davidson’s NXXT victory in Orlando has put multiple questions at the forefront. As Davidson has faced online abuse and even death threats, the female circuit wants to steer clear of any future resistance from the inside. The Women’s Tour will conduct a survey “to consider the perspectives of those directly affected by these policies.”

Furthermore, Davidson is set to undergo testosterone testing once again The Scottish Pro earlier claimed that going through hormonal therapy for nine years has cost her 50 miles of swing speed. So, the criticism against alleged advantage over other female players is unfair, the 30-year-old claimed. Davidson went through surgery in 2021 after starting the hormone treatments in 2015. Contrary to the common perception, despite the NXXT Tour’s ties with the Epson Tour, the road to the LPGA Tour card is still an uphill climb for Hailey Davidson.
