Rory McIlroy has been one of the best golfers in the world. Although he plays in the PGA Tour, the 33-year-old is, in fact, an Irish golfer. Being consistent with his performances and the current world no. 8, the golfer has made his country proud. However, they will not be as much happier to know one of the choices he made recently!

According to reports, McIlroy has chosen not to attend the upcoming Irish Open. The Mount Juliet Estate will host the DP World Tour (European Tour) event from June 30th to July 3rd. He opted out of the tournament as a break before the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews.

McIlroy had won the Irish Open once in his career, back in 2016. He won the event with a 3-shot lead against Bradley Dredge and Russell Knox. Notably, the Rory Foundation hosted the event from 2015 to 2018, making him the first player to win a European Tour event while serving as a host.

Although he has a special connection to the Irish Open, it doesn’t align with his schedule. However, McIlroy will be playing the JP McManus Pro-Am at the Adare Manor on July 4th and 5th. Since it is in his home country, his country, people will get to see him and support him there.

The golf world will get to see Rory McIlroy in action for four weeks straight!

“I’ll play these next four weeks,” McIlroy said about his upcoming schedules. “And then it’s two weeks out from competitive golf, I guess.” According to the golfer, he will play the four tournaments consecutively, starting from the Memorial Tournament.

Following that, the Irishman will play the RBC Canadian Open. Significantly, McIlroy won the event last time it was conducted in 2019, making him the defending champion. He will play at the Travelers Championship and later at the U. S. Open as his last two tournaments before taking a break for two weeks.
