“The Masters, of course, means a lot to me since I first teed-up in 2009 and even more so being fitted by Tiger with the green jacket in 2020,” he said. The 38-year-old also expressed his delight in hosting the Champions dinner himself and revealed he was looking forward to 2022 winner Scottie Scheffler’s dinner.

“I was so honored to host the dinner in 2021 and each and everyone of us look forward to honoring Scottie this year and that’s the great tradition that is Augusta National,” he said.

If recent outbursts are anything to go by, things could get heated in the major championships. But according to Johnson, there won’t be any “tension” from his end. “I heard what was said about possible tension at the dinner but there will not be any tension from me and, besides I still have a great relationship with all my fellow Masters champions, so I don’t see why there will be any issues or tension at the dinner,” he said.

The 2-time major championship also revealed that any tension at the tournament won’t be generated due to disparity in leagues, but rather because the “tension was already there.” The prestigious tournament will be played on April 6-9 later this year.
