Justin Thomas is one such golfer who looks up to his father, Mike Thomas and wants to be just like him. But that’s not all there is to their relationship, it is far more complex than that.

Justin and Mike share a much deeper connection than just blood. Mike isn’t just the golf pro’s idol or father. In fact, they share multiple relationships outside of their home.
Justin Thomas reveals his multi-sided relationship with his father
Back in 2020, Justin Thomas made his first appearance at the PNC Championship. The golf pro was joined by his father, Mike Thomas, who is also his coach. This intrigued the fans and the media equally. It wasn’t long before Justin was questioned about their relationship in an interview.

The reporter called Team Thomas’ relationship “multifaceted” and asked Justin what that was like. Thomas responded, saying, “It’s special, but it’s hard to explain because I think we do a great job of separating whatever environment we’re in.”

Justin Thomas explained that his father and he were extremely close, sharing multiple relationships. He described them and said, “Father-Son, Player-Coach, we’re two friends, and like I said, now we’re teammates.” The PGA Tour star considers himself “very, very lucky” because his father is so involved in his life. “It means so much to me,” he stated.

Is ‘Team Thomas’ playing at this year’s PNC Championship?
The Thomson pair won their first-ever appearance at the PNC Championship in 2020. The duo played an incredible bogey-free match and birdied 15 of their 18 holes in the second round. They went on to beat Vijay Singh and his father, Qass Singh, by a stroke to take home the championship trophy.

Justin and Mike returned in December last year to try to reclaim their titles, but ended up third on the leaderboard, watching John Daly and his son, John Daly II, win. The Thomas pair will return this week to the PNC. The father-son and coach-player duo will undoubtedly be looking to dethrone Team Daly and reclaim their title.
