The Sunday rains at the PGA National Champion course abruptly suspended the final round, making many players continue on Monday. However, a few pros had completed their round and one of them was Erik van Rooyen. The South African golfer shot 6 back-to-back birdies on the front nine and scored his lowest round of 63 at the Cognizant Classis.

The 34-year-old ended round four with a score of -8 over 63, during which he carded 7 impressive birdies on the front nine and two on the back nine, along with a bogey. With such an impressive performance, van Rooyen is surely one of the contenders for the Cognizant Classics Trophy. All of it could not have been done without his cherished equipment in his bag.

Driver, Fairway Woods, and more on Erik van Rooyen’s bag

Erik van Rooyen is a Callaway staff player and used the same clubs for his last victory at the World Wide Technology Championship as well. For the driver, van Rooyen uses the Callaway Paradygm Ai Smoke Triple Diamond which has 9 degrees of loft. He equips it with a Mitsubishi Diamana DF 60TX shaft. The driver retails for $599.99 and provides faster ball speed with enhanced launch and spin.

The fairway wood on van Rooyen’s bag is the Callaway Apex UW with 17 degrees of loft and Fujikura Ventus Blue 8X shaft. The South African pro does not have any 3-wood or 5-wood on his bag. However, the Utility wood does provide better forgiveness and promotes a better launch. It sells for $299.99 on Callaway’s website.

To further fill gaps in the absence of different woods, van Rooyen uses a utility iron. The one in his bag is a Callaway X Forged UT with Graphite Design Tour AD DI 95TX shaft. The irons are not available as new but can be found on Callaway’s site for pre-owned clubs and sell for around $104.54 to $164.89 depending on the condition.

The irons used by the 34-year-old pro are the Callaway Apex TCB 4-iron and the Apex MB (5-PW) with a KBS Tour V 120X shaft. The former was specifically designed for Tour players and offers distance control with optimum speed. The MB irons have enhanced the sole design for better contact and the perfect sound when hit. They retail for around ~$200 for the TCB and $1505 per set for Apex MB.
