We witnessed a historic round one as In Gee Chun carded her career-best score. She carded 64 for the day and is -8 for the event after round one. The 27-year-old is leading the major championship event by five strokes.

Meanwhile, In Gee Chun carded nine birdies and a bogey in her historic round at the 2022 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. However, with the latest stat revelation about her score against the field average, In Gee has overtaken Tiger Woods.

In Gee Chun’s 64 on day one was 12.04 strokes better than the average score in round one. Moreover, this is two shots better than Tiger Woods’ 10.19 at the 2013 WGC Bridgestone. He carded a 61 in the second round, which is Woods’ best round against the field. Hence, this makes In Gee Chun’s first round of the 2022 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship even more incredible.
She was exceptional throughout her round. She hit all the 14 fairways and made only 25 putts. Furthermore, the South Korean golfer hit 15 out of 18 greens in regulation, which was commendable. Gee Chun also had a decent driving distance on day one, with an average of 234 yards.

Therefore, going into the second round, she has a lead of five strokes. Furthermore, she will tee off in the afternoon today and can assess the playing conditions and leaderboard and plan her game accordingly. Meanwhile, prominent golfers like Nelly Korda carded -1 while Jin Young Jo remained even par for the day.
