It was the first day of the Masters Tournament in 2023. Two days of miserable weather followed the Thursday round, but fortunately, the final round saw sunshine and blue skies. Jon Rahm had started off the tournament with a four-putt double bogey. But little did he know back then that he would go ahead and dish out a final-round 69 (-3) to finish 12-under and win the contest, leading him to host the iconic Champions Dinner a year later in Augusta’s Clubhouse.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview on March 19, three weeks ahead of the prestigious day, the golfer was asked about the Champions dinner menu. Replying to the same, he went ahead to explain in detail the different types of food that were made with José Andres’s help, all while focusing on the treat that he is presenting to previous champions, including both PGA Tour pros and LIV golfers.

“I wanted to put a little bit of my heritage and my family into this dinner,” said the 29-year-old as he reasoned, “which is going to make it even more special,” explaining why he included the Basque heritage into the meal plan. Adding on, he said, “I wanted to put a little bit of my essence into it, and I’m hoping they really like it,” as the pro focused on giving a treat to the previous champs. Curiously speaking, he also divulged how Andres had even called his grandma to include one of the dishes.

Elaborating on the menu, the 2023 Masters champ mentioned how he will start the meal with six dishes. The past champions will be able to enjoy Ibericos (Acorn-Fed Iberian Ham, Cured Pork Loin), Idiazabal con Trufa Negra (Idiazabal Cheese, Black Truffle), Tortilla de Patatas (Spanish Omelette, Onions, Confit Potatoes), Chistorra con Patata (Spicy Basque Chorizo, Potato), Lentejas Estofadas (Mama Rahm’s Classic Lentil Stew), and Croqueta de Pollo (Creamy Chicken Fritters, Confit Potatoes).

Afterward, the main course will include Ensalada de Txangurro (Basque Crab Salad, Potato), followed by Culeton a la Parrilla (Basque Ribeye, Tudela Lettuce, Piquillo Peppers), and Rodaballo al Pil-Pil (Turbot, White Asparagus), out of which the guests can choose. And finally, the iconic dinner will see its conclusion with dessert, which will serve Milhojas de Crema y Nata (puff pastry cake, custard, and Chantilly cream).

It is truly an exciting opportunity for the 2021 U.S. Open champ. Meanwhile, one can’t help but take a small peek back to the spectacular performance that the LIV Golf Pro had dished out, enabling him to throw the prestigious dinner a year later.
