Out of all these coaches, David Leadbetter holds a special place in the history of the game. Coming all the way from Sussex, England, the golf legend has trained numerous top athletes in his career. However, when asked about his “most bizarre teaching story”, his response was enough to leave the fans shocked for a few minutes!

Who was David Leadbetter’s most bizarre student?

Currently at the age of 70 and aging like fine wine, Leadbetter looks as fresh as he used to a decade back. With a highly decorated career in teaching some of the best golf stars in the world, this man is responsible for carving legends. Regarded as one of the premier golf instructors in the world, Leadbetter has also won several titles such as the 2017 PGA Teacher of the Year, PGA Hall of Fame Professional, etc.

For those who don’t know, the Brit has spent weeks and months teaching GOATs like Greg Norman, Michelle Wie, Lydia Ko, Sir Nick Faldo, and several other players who have made history after getting the right lessons from him. But despite all his experience and expertise, there have been people who even Leadbetter saw as a unique breed. And when asked about the most bizarre student he ever had, he decided to name none other than the Wolf of Wallstreet!

“Jordan Belfort Yeah. Wolf of Wall Street,” he said while accompanied by his daughter Hally Leadbetter, and his student Michelle Wie. “He was bizarre…he was F every second word…what you saw in the movie was pretty much Jordan Belfort… He was a strong, stocky guy who loved golf. I mean, Golf was in his movie.” The famous golf coach also mentioned that Belfort used to visit him every once in a while in Florida “with his cohort”.

There is a pretty long list of players who have achieved unbelievable milestones in their careers after being instructed by Leadbetter. However, golf was not the only thing he was majorly interested in. The former ace has authored eight books which sold over two million copies. Other than teaching numerous PGA Tour and LPGA Tour pros, he has also produced and released instructional videos and training aids like SwingSetter.
