Imagine being called a “Captain’s Nightmare,” and then having fans nearly topple barricades just to get your autograph. That’s exactly what Bryson DeChambeau experienced. Just a day after being ripped on-air by Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee, the LIV Golf star was met with a wild fan frenzy during a Tuesday practice round at Bethpage Black, and the internet can’t stop talking about it.

In a video posted by NUCLR Golf on X, DeChambeau was seen surrounded by a roaring crowd as he signed autographs during Tuesday’s practice round.
The caption read: “Incredible scene at Bethpage Black as Team USA star Bryson DeChambeau signs autographs while security hold back the barricades from falling over.”

Bryson DeChambeau is seen calmly signing autographs while security guards literally hold back a collapsing barricade of fans. One guy, who seemed to be an official, even got his t-shirt signed while still wearing it, while several fans screamed “Bryson, I love you!!!” through the crowd as DeChambeau kept signing like a pro amid the chaos.
And the love didn’t stop there. Golf.com shared another clip on Instagram showing a tall cloth barrier blocking fans from even seeing DeChambeau. But that didn’t stop them. Fans started sliding boards and flags underneath the divider just to get a signature from DeChambeau.

And Bryson, fully game, bent down, knelt on the pavement, and signed every item they sent his way. “Whatever it takes to get Bryson DeChambeau’s signature!” the caption read, clearly indicating just how far fans, and Bryson himself, are willing to go for a moment of connection.
It was a surreal scene, and it was even more ironic given that all this love came just 24 hours after what Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee had said the day before. In a fiery segment shared by Brendan Porath on X, the longtime analyst didn’t hold back, calling DeChambeau a poor team player and “an odd duck” who prioritizes his YouTube views over Ryder Cup loyalty.
“Nope, he didn’t talk about playing on a team… What he did do was talk about his YouTube channel,” Chamblee said.
He even took a not-so-subtle dig at DeChambeau, claiming most of the views on his YouTube videos were from bots. And Brandel Chamblee didn’t stop there. Despite calling him “one hell of a golfer,” Chamblee believed that DeChambeau truly does not care about the Ryder Cup, and he added that — “It’s one of the reasons why I think he’s gonna be such a difficult person to get paired with… and I think he would be a captain’s nightmare.”

But if Tuesday’s scenes at Bethpage Black proved anything, it’s that Bryson DeChambeau might just be the exact opposite of a captain’s nightmare. Because while Chamblee painted him as self-absorbed and team-averse, what unfolded on the course looked a lot more like a guy fully tuned into the people around him — generous, engaged, and completely unbothered by the noise.

Fans go crazy over Bryson DeChambeau
As the videos from Bethpage went viral on social media, fans were quick to crown DeChambeau as one of the most favourite players out there. “Hardest working guy in golf. It’s all for the fans,” one fan wrote, echoing what everyone watching already knew. Bryson DeChambeau wasn’t just engaging with the fans for the sake of it. His demeanour displayed that he was genuinely keen on interacting as he reached for every handshake, every signature, every fan pressed against that barricade.

“The man of the people,” another fan declared — and honestly, it stuck. From kneeling on the pavement to signing flags he couldn’t even see the owners of, Bryson DeChambeau made it clear that fan connection isn’t an afterthought, but part of the job. “No fan left behind,” someone else commented, and watching him in action, it was clear that DeChambeau made it a point to reach out to almost every single one of them.
Of course, the internet didn’t forget about Chamblee’s “bots” comment. “Brandel will call those fans bots,” one fan joked, as the videos showed anything but that. It was real people, real voices, and real chaos — the kind no one could fake. One fan even took it a step further, posting, “When his golf career is done, he could be president someday.” It was probably said with humour, but with Bryson DeChambeau’s mix of showmanship, charisma, and crowd control, it didn’t feel completely exaggerated.
