LPGA Tour duo share sad news with the golf world
One of the most iconic LPGA events, the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, that boasts a team format is just around the corner. The defending champions of the tournament, Jennifer Kupcho, and Lizette Salas were paired together this year as well to defend their title. But sadly, both the golfers have now withdrawn from the tournament.
The hard decision was first taken by Salas after she experienced unbearable back pain returning home from the Women’s US Open. Her back pain had also kept her out of a few events back in May and June. She decided to sit out of the tournament after doing her best to get the back pain treated.
As a result of the untimely withdrawal, Salas’s partner, Kupcho was on a mission to find herself a new and eligible partner for the tournament. Despite her “exhausting” efforts, she could not find a partner to participate with and hence had to withdraw as well. The decision was incredibly hard for her.

Although the USA team did not win, the duo displayed a strong partnership. In 2022, the LPGA golfers partnered again for the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational and ended up winning the tournament with a five-shot victory.

As the 34-year-old golfer announced her withdrawal, she could not help but display sheer respect for her on-course partner, Jen Kupcho. She was “saddened to let down” her partner. On the other hand, Kupcho displayed exemplary appreciation for Salas. She said she deeply cares for the injured golfer and wants her to get back as soon as possible and play her best game.
