At the PGA Championship course, some golfers focus more on stringing together astounding curse words than on stringing together birdies. Who knew the real competition lay in the art of frustration? At least, that’s true for Tyrrell Hatton. The LIV golfer recently drew attention for his colorful outbursts during Thursday’s match at Quail Hollow. This happened on the challenging 17th hole, where Hatton’s tee shot veered off course, missing his intended target. The result? A litany of “Worst f–king…” But the golf world’s foul-mouthed star isn’t finished yet, as shown by another outburst during the second round of the PGA Championship.

Hatton kicked off Friday on the back nine with a strong start, nailing back-to-back birdies. However, he hit a snag with a bogey at 14, which left him tied for third at four under. He confidently sank a 15-foot birdie putt at the par-five 10th and followed it up with a solid 20-footer at 11. Unfortunately, a misstep at the 14th caused him to find the water off the tee, leading to a frustrating bogey. The consequence? “Piece of sh!t… c—t!” Tyrrell Hatton muttered in frustration. An awkward broadcaster chimed in, “So, Tyrrell Hatton is NOT happy with that tee shot.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Hatton’s unhappiness has resulted in such an outburst. At the 2024 LIV Golf Miami event, Tyrell Hatton gained traction for his verbal outburst. The Englishman had five holes left to play, but unexpectedly, all eyes focused on him at the par-4 14th hole after his tee shot with the Ping G430 LST. Unfortunately, after the drive, the ball bounced twice and landed in the rough, much to Hatton’s anger. The result? “F—king what a wank bounce that was, if it f—king bounces left it’s fine… F—K YOU! The f—king c—t,” resulting in fans calling him “disgraceful to the game.” The history, unfortunately, has repeated itself.
Tyrrell Hatton is introducing a rare kind of rage in the golf fans with his outbursts
It seems every time Tyrrell Hatton sends a shot into the water, he discovers a new way to express his creativity—who knew he was such a talented poet of profanity? One frustrated fan couldn’t help but exclaim, “Tired of this guy and his antics.” Before the Quail Hollow’s water angered him, the Bay Hill Golf Course’s 12th pond inspired a different kind of reaction. At the 2020 API’s Sunday match, Hatton lost his lead due to a few poor shots. The meltdown occurred on the par-4 12th hole when he drove into the water, a costly mental error since he didn’t need to use a driver. Instead of swearing at that moment, Hatton flipped off the pond!
Two fans demanded a harsh punishment for the outburst: “Fine him,” said one fan, while the other replied, “Should be fined.” While we have yet to hear from the PGA of America, Hatton has actually faced a fine during a major. At the 2021 Open Championship, during the second round, he vented his frustration after a double bogey on the 11th hole, calling the situation “absolute f***ing bollocks” due to a poor lie. His frustrations continued when he snapped his gap wedge after a bad approach on the 18th, and he ultimately received a fine.
One fan said, “So glad he went to LIV, complete and utter tool.” Tyrrell Hatton moved to LIV Golf in January 2024 and has since faced several issues. At the 2024 World Tour Championship in Dubai, Tyrrell Hatton snapped a club in two and cursed loudly during the Saturday round. This behavior resulted in a fine from the European Tour and drew criticism from broadcaster Ewen Murray, who exclaimed, “It’s time for change, I’m afraid. That’s a terrible influence on the next generation.”
Lastly, a fan said, “what a loser.” Tyrrell Hatton may currently be one of the leaders at the PGA Championship, however, he will need to work on his outbursts.
