The LIV Golf Invitational Series is about to commence on Friday. Notably, players like Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, along with World No. 1 Dustin Johnson will be seen on the course competing for the $25 million records. 

After a long session of statements, rumors, controversies, as well as accusations involving the PGA Tour and its rival LIV Tour, the Saudi-backed series is finally beginning this Friday. The officials released the names of the teams and their respective captains, towards which there were plenty of reactions from the golf world.

Twitter reacts to LIV Golf team names

Golf fans and experts on Twitter have presented mixed reactions to the names of the teams so far.

Golf Media personalities like Paige Spiranac also shared the list on their Twitter handles and the fans reacted with rather funny and sarcastic comments.

Fans on the internet had all kinds of reactions; some even called it a Mickey Mouse league. Another error raised by the fans is the incorrect spelling of Wade Ormsby’s in the official list; they called the mistake expected and disrespectful.

LIV Series and PGA Tour rivalry

Since the LIV Golf Invitational Series is considered a rival of the PGA Tour, it has intrigued all PGA fans, even more, to follow the Saudi-backed league closely. With much criticism, some said that this list is the only fun thing about the league, and the rest of everything is just a big “yawn”

Mickelson wants to play both LIV and PGA Tour

Mickelson made it very clear that he was going to join the LIV Tour soon, and later he did. However, he also apologized for the comments he had made, and in a recent interview, he showed his support for both the tours.

Mickelson mentioned his plans to play all eight rounds in the LIV Tour, but also stated that he wouldn’t give up his PGA Tour membership. He has been one of the most talked-about golf personalities in recent times, along with Tiger Woods. Both of them were close friends until recently Woods mentioned that he disagreed with Mickelson’s statements, and so do other golfers.
