The family name ‘Korda’ is famous when it comes to sports. The whole family is filled with sports prodigies. Each family member has laid their footmarks on both golf and tennis. Father Petr Korda won the Australian open of 1998 and mother Regina Rajchrtova had also been a professional tennis player. But their kids have been breaking all the records and flourishing the family’s name.

Nelly Korda has taken the family’s name to a new height. She not only rose to the LPGA no. 1 player status but also got the first gold medal in her family. The Korda family has always been thankful to one another and has given the credits for their success to each other. They truly have created a “family goal” for the whole world.

Nelly was just 23 when she rose to the top of global rankings for the first time. She won her first major at the Women’s PGA Championship in 2021 and that was not enough for the young talent. After six weeks of winning the Women’s PGA Championship, she won her first-ever gold medal. The excitement of the family was visible in her sister’s reaction. Jessica Korda couldn’t curtail her happiness and went running to her little sister Nelly. Such a proud moment it was for the whole family.

Jessica has been Nelly’s biggest supporter in the field. She herself has registered six LPGA tour wins and is currently ranked in 16th position. Both the Korda sisters are just inseparable. Nelly has been utterly vocal about what Jessica means to her. According to an article by Yahoo! Sports, Nelly said, “I don’t know what I would do without Jess.” Expressing what Jessica means to her she further said, “I was like ‘so you’re going to be playing until the end of my career too, right? You’re not going to leave me?’ I’m just super-grateful to have her, honestly, every step of the way.

Truly a supportive family like Korda’s could take you a long way. Jessica is elder than both Nelly and Sebastian and has been nothing short of an anchor to them. The same goes for their parents as well. Both Petr and Regina have given gems to the sporting world.

Before turning into a pro golfer, Nelly was a rising amateur. In 2016, she won a tournament on the second-tier Symetra Tour to get a ticket for the LPGA tour. The world’s no. 4 had her first-ever win in Taiwan in 2018, after that there was no looking back for her. In 2019, she completed a “family slam” by winning the Women’s Australian Open. Both the Korda sisters, Jessica and Nelly, have won the LPGA tour titles making them the third duo of sisters to do so.

2021 was the year of the Korda sisters, both sisters won consecutive tournaments with Jessica winning the Tournament of Champions and Nelly winning the Gainbridge LPGA. Nelly has given most of the credit for her success to Jessica. Kelly has rekindled Jessica’s spirit and passion for golf.

Truly the Korda family has come as a blessing to the whole sports fraternity.
