Caddies play a significant role in any golfer’s career. Even the greatest golfer of all time, Tiger Woods, will also agree to it. His former caddie, Steve Williams, was with him when he won 13 out of his 15 major championships. Now, Joe LaCava is the bag man of the golfer. However, there is a hilarious story behind their partnership. LaCava revealed it in 2019.

Joe LaCava received a well-deserved accolade in August 2019 when he was admitted into the Caddie Hall of Fame for his dedication to the former world number one golfer through all of his setbacks, which led to this year’s Masters victory.

The loyalty displayed by the excellent caddie is one of the reasons for the strong bond between him and the golfer, and it has caught everyone’s eye, and no one can deny it. Woods had to stay away from professional golf for a long time due to his injuries. However, LaCava supported the golfer during his persistent back injury. LaCava’s earning potential was significantly reduced without a bag to carry. However, he stood by his man even after the golfer advised him to join another golfer when he was injured in 2017.

However, the question is, how LaCava joined Woods?

What did Joe LaCava say to Tiger Woods in 2011?

During his induction, the Hall of Fame caddie gave a memorable speech on the eve of the BMW Championship. LaCava walked down memory lane and narrated the story of when Woods asked him if he wanted to be his caddie. However, after listening “interested” from the legendary golfer, he took a total of 0.00001 seconds to reply to the golfer’s request.

In the speech, LaCava said, “Tiger said, “Are you interested?” I’m like “f*** yeah, I’m interested.” The moment he said that, the camera focused on the major championship winner. We could see him laughing hard at his caddie’s words. And it was not just him; the whole arena burst into laughter.

LaCava joined Woods right after the golfer ended the partnership with his long-time caddie, Steve Williams. He is the Connecticut native who joined the GOAT golfer after spending four years working for Dustin Johnson, who steadily rose through the rankings. However, it is noteworthy that the caddie has also worked for Woods’ father figure, Fred Couples. However, LaCava did work as a caddie for Patrick Cantlay and Couples briefly in 2021, but his loyalty remains with the 82 times PGA Tour winner since 2011.
