PGA Tour Pro sheds light on the alleged bias on Tyrell Hatton’s special day

Greg Chalmers is a golfer who plays on the PGA Tour after turning professional in 1995. But, having played for so many years, the golfer bagged only one trophy on the PGA Tour. Altogether, he had an average career and is not a popular entity on the golf circuit.

On the other hand, Tyrell Hatton, the English professional golfer of the PGA Tour who recently represented his country in the Ryder Cup as one of Luke Donald’s gems, is a popular name presently. Now, on the occasion of his birthday, the European veteran was sent well wishes from the official Twitter page of the PGA Tour. The page posted a video of Hatton and some great moments from his past golf ventures, mostly funny clips of him on the greens.

Chalmers, on the other hand, never received such a gesture on his birthday. Thus, the golfer alleged that there is favoritism inside the tour. He retweeted the video, called out the association of men’s golf, and blamed them for never wishing him on his birthday. He even wrote a caption that said, “These guys have never wished me happy birthday…not even once…I’m starting to think they only do it for “certain” players”.

This is not the first time the PGA Tour has been unfairly biased towards its golfers. Similar instances occurred in the past as well.

Though the PGA Tour is a regal golf association in the men’s golf circuit, with immense respect bestowed upon it for its long presence in the golf world, the allegation of favoritism is nothing new. One of the people who accused the association was Phil Mickelson. He once talked about how his arch-enemy, Tiger Woods, got favored over him.

In a year-back interview with Golf Digest, Mickelson said, I think the tour talks to Tiger. That’s a critical element, and he should be consulted”. In addition to this, he continued, “On the other hand, I believe no one player should have input on the operations of the tour. Why? Because you’re dealing with 200 individuals who are unable to take their personal bias out of the decision-making process”
